Oxjam is coming

Oxjam is a unique music festival idea first started by Oxfam Great Britain about two years ago. Since then it has grown in stature and has gained the support and assistance of many of today’s top bands in Ireland and the U.K.

Not since the launch of the hugely successful Cake Sale album has Oxfam Ireland undertaken such a huge musical venture.

Clive Gregson to give free songwriting workshop

Clive Gregson will give a free songwriting workshop as part of the Tain Festival weekend. It will take place in The Spirit Store on Georges Quay from 2 to 4pm. It will be followed by a gig in the Bartender on Park Street from 5 - 6.30.

Jackass Stars to play Tain Festival

Big Nasty aka SCREAM FOR ME featuring Chris Pontius, Loomis Falls and Scott Manning from Jackass/Wildboys will open the festival on Wednesday the 24th of October in The Spirit Store. A night of high octane rock and roll and audience participation is expected as the Jackass/ Wildboys crew take you somewhere you have never been before.

Clive Gregson Songwriting Workshop

Clive is giving a workshop in the Spirit Store from 2 - 4pm on Sunday the 28th of October. This will be followed by a performance in the Bartender, Park Street from 5pm to 6.30. Both the workshop and the gig are free of charge. 


Dave Geraghty

David Geraghty is a multi-instrumentalist with Irish band Bell X1 (piano, guitar, banjo, harmonica). He fronted the 4 piece band, The Rotators and continues to perform live, most notably on the Big Tree Stage at the 2006 Electric Picnic with full band. David has just released his solo debut album "Kill Your Darlings" in September 2007.

Hailing from Dublin, Ireland and weighing in at over 6 hundred pounds, Fight Like Apes combine the Synth with the Sword in this heroic tale of anger, jealousy, greed and ...goblins. With an emphasis on loutish vocals, brutish bass and digital distortion Fight Like Apes are highly trained, armed and considered extremely dangerous.

Hailing from Dundalk town Jinx Lennon mixes punk folk with observational lyrics, performance art, and a stage show that is more baptist hellfire preacher than Dylanesque troubadour.Jinx has been touring and pushing out his fierce music at home and abroad since 1999 playing festivals and touring the US, Britain and Ireland blistering performances at Oxegen, Electric Picnic, Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, Dublin Fringe festival. Radio appearances include sessions on "Across the Line"on BBC Radio Ulster, Dan Hegarty Show on 2 FM, "The 11th Hour" on RTE Radio 1, Pop 4 and Cula 4 on TG4 and has just recorded a performance for "Ardan"on TG4. His third and latest album "Know Your Station Gouger Nation !!! " is a journey through the dark side of Hibernia.

Martin Stephenson and Helen McCookerybook

Martin Stephenson is a supremely gifted singer, songwriter, musician and performer, whose career in music stretches back now almost twenty years. Born in County Durham, in the North-East of England, on the 27th. July 1961, Martin was initially fired up to play in a band when the Punk Rock phenomenon went overground in the late 1970's. Then, as now, however, Martin's free spirit incorporated a love for an eclectic range of musical styles, from Rockabilly, show tunes, through to straight ahead rock and full-tilt Punk.

PJ Gallagher

 

PJ Gallagher plays the Táin Theatre, Town Hall, Crowe Street, Dundalk on Saturday the 27th of October. Tickets are €16 & €14 conc. and are available from the Tain Theatre Box Office, Crowe Street, Dundalk or online through our tickets page. Performance is at 8pm.

PJ Gallagher is fast becoming one of Ireland's best-loved comedians. Following the huge success of his role as Jake Stevens in the hilarious and sometimes outrageous hit TV show "Naked Camera", PJ rarely has time to be himself these days as he prepares for yet another run of the massively popular series.

The Bruhouse Blues Band

The Bruhouse Blues Band play McManus' Pub, Seatown on Friday the 26th of October at 9pm. 

The Brewhouse Blues Band exploded onto the local scene just three months ago by winning the Dundalk FM battle of the bands on their very first gig. The three piece made up of James Humpston, (guitar & vocals) Paul Mallon (bass) and Mark Duffy (drums) have been welcomed as a breath of fresh air by music goers with their old school attitude and approach. The band can only be described as dirty blues rock, playing many originals and old favourites from legends such as Clapton, Hendrix and Peter Green.

The Organics

The Organics play the Riva Brasserie, Earl Street, Dundalk on Friday the 26th of October. Tickets are €25 and include a tapas meal. They are available from tthe venue or from the tickets page. 

Ireland’s leading Hammond organ trio - Organics have been performing and composing professionally as a group since 1997. During this time they have performed as the jam-session house band at the Cork International jazz festival. They have played extensively throughout Ireland at music festivals in Dublin, Galway, Waterford, Belfast to name but a few.

Warlords of Pez

The infamous Warlords of Pez are playing in the Spirit Store on Thursday the 25th of October. Doors at 8.30pm. This show is fancy dress so let your creativity shine and dress it up, Warlords style!!
