The Organics

The Organics play the Riva Brasserie, Earl Street, Dundalk on Friday the 26th of October. Tickets are €25 and include a tapas meal. They are available from tthe venue or from the tickets page.

Ireland’s leading Hammond organ trio - Organics have been performing and composing professionally as a group since 1997. During this time they have performed as the jam-session house band at the Cork International jazz festival. They have played extensively throughout Ireland at music festivals in Dublin, Galway, Waterford, Belfast to name but a few.

In 2001, the trio were invited to play as the support group to Gil Scott-Heron in Vicar Street, Dublin. They were critically acclaimed for their performance with Saxophonist Bobby Watson (Art Blakey + The Jazz Messengers) at the 2004 Cork Jazz festival.

In addition to this, Organics have opened for leading International groups such as Swedish piano trio E.S.T, the legendary Herbie Hancock’s ‘Headhunters’ and electronic pioneer Bugge Wesseltoft at The 2005 Bud Rising Festival .

One of the most exciting sounds to emerge from the Irish jazz scene, Organics have established a musical expression uniquely their own. The group features three of the country’s brightest young jazz musicians,

Justin Carroll (Hammond Organ), John Moriarty (Guitar) and Kevin Brady (Drums).

Their time as a group has been marked by a seriousness about repertoire and playing together which has produced a gradual musical evolution. Organics natural chemistry was reinforced by shared musical aims. From an early stage the group set their sights on composing and playing their own material. In 2005, Record Collector Magazine quoted their first album release entitled ’New Light’ as “One of the finest debut recordings”. 2007 saw Organics become founding members of Ireland’s newly formed Jazz & Creative Music collective, The Livingroom Project, which encompasses a wide variety of musical styles and artforms. Through this collective they began performing with World reknowned Saxophonist Richie Buckley.

Drawing on influences from The Blues to the American songbook to a unique blend of soul and groove, this modern Hammond Organ trio continue to compose and perform an original mix of improvised music. Organics have a distinguished – and varied – jazz lineage, including a swinging format with an infectious beat.
